shortst101's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weekend......... Happy Monday.... Ok, well how about.....Good Monday.. Went to the camper over the weekend. It was a good trip, for the most part. It took me and the boys almost 4 hours to get there when it should have only taken close to three hours. There were several extra stops as the boys had to have food and then of course, the 1/2 hour we lost when we hit a deer. Yep, you heard me, we hit a deer. Scared the shit out of me and both the boys. I saw the mother deer cross the road and I slowed down because there are usually more than one traveling together. I shouldn't have slowed down, had I not, then the little deer wouldn't have been hit. He came out about the time I got to where he was crossing and ran head 1st into the side of the car. Another bad thing is the fact that we were driving my sister in law's car instead of mine. Anyway, we stopped the car and calmed my nerves down before turning around and going back to where he was hit to find the deer. We found him and realized it was just a baby. He was laying in the road and we wanted to move him out of the roadway so he wouldn't get run over anymore. Unfortunately, it was dark and cars kept flying by, and most of them were going around the deer. But then this damn huge truck came by and ran right over the deer and me and both the boys watched it happen. My little one was freaking out. And I'll admit so was I. My heart was broken because of this poor little deer. There was nothing we could do for him after that. So we got back on the road and finally made it to the camper. Needless to say, I really didn't sleep well that night at all. Saturday was spent painting walls in the hotel rooms. My husband trades out work with the campsite owners by re-doing their hotel rooms in exchange for our lot payment. I actually enjoyed the work. The boys spent the day trying to catch some fish, but they never caught anything. I love watching them together in the outdoors, they don't seem to fight as much when they have a common goal. We did go to town and have a burger from Sonic for dinner and then spent a quiet evening watching dvds in the camper. The drive home yesterday was uneventful which is a very good thing.
