I went to the doctor's office yesterday. What fun that was! NOT!! My appointment was @ 3:20. Guess what time I was finally seen? 4:45 PM. Talk about slow.
The waiting room was interesting, to say the least. When I arrived it was full! Do they just book as many people as possible in and then HOPE they can see them all before 5:00 PM? Heck if I know, but it was standing room only in there. There were quite a few interesting people though and some not so interesting people as well. There was the Russian couple who had their grandson with them. I figure he was about 13 years old (maybe a little younger). He was their interpretor. They couldn't speak a word of English. He was having to fill out their paperwork for them and answer all the questions for the front office folks and generally I felt sorry for him. But he took it in stride. Don't forget about this couple, I'll tell you more about them later. There was the man who was snoring loudly as he waited and then there was a girl and a man sitting in front of him, who I'm not sure, but I think they were father/daughter, however, some of the ummmm 'touches' between them...seemed to be more than father/daugtherish. They were laughing and making fun of the man who was snoring. Then there was the lady who had 2 cute kids with her. A little boy who was 5 and a younger little girl, probably about 1. The girl was as cute as a button and the little boy was driving her totally insane. He wasn't listening at all. There was the 71 year old man who was talking to another lady who had two children with her, a boy who was 14 years old and an infant. The 71 year old man had 6 grandchildren and one of his daughters lived in California. It's amazing the things you learn, just by listening.
And so I waited and waited, they finally called me up front to pay my co-pay, as this doctor's office makes you make your payment UP FRONT instead of when you leave. I guess that's so after you have waited forever that you won't leave because you have already paid for the visit. They aldo run your checks through immediately like a debit and give it back to you after it's completed. Of course the machine wasn't working properly yesterday, so I don't know if I ever made my copay or not. I did give them a check.
Finally around 4:10, I was called back. They weighed me (GAG) and I had lost four pounds since my last visit. That's a plus! YAY (but i have a long, long way to go) Then I was taken into the room and my temp was taken (it was 99.9), blood pressure was okay and then she said "the doctor will be in soon." I'll give it to her, she can lie pretty well. More than 1/2 hour later, I had to go to the bathroom. I'd been waiting, because I knew just as soon as I went to the bathroom, the doctor would come in. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I came out of the bathroom, guess who was standing there waiting on me? The doctor, of course! There was no time for idle chit-chat. He looked in my ears, throat, nose and felt my neck and glands, then he listened to my chest and back breathing. He ask a few questions and then apologized that he was running behind. He said that he wouldn't be so far behind if he could speak Russian. I told him that I saw the couple in the lobby with their grandson. He said the grandson wouldn't interpret when the grandparents said if he didn't like what they said and then an argument would ensue between the grandson and the grandparents and then when he (the doctor) would ask what was said, the young boy would say, "nothing important", or "never mind."
So, almost 2 hours after arriving at the doctors office, I was able to leave. Diagnosis: Bronchitis. The doctor gave me my antibiotics for free and a prescription for some cough medicine with codeine.
And then guess what? I woke up this morning with one of my eyes infected (like pink eye)so I left a message for the doctor's office and waiting on them to return my call.
I can't win for losing!
Anyone wanna come and go to the doctor with me??
Also, I'm not so sure if I have even said this here, but I went to the doctor last week, the gyn and he thinks that I may have a hernia. I have to have an internal ultrasound on the 22nd to find out for sure. If it is a hernia, there will be surgery in my near future.
Like i said, I can't win for losing.
On a good note.....my youngest son is doing better with his meds. We have only had two episodes since he started on the epilepsy meds. So that's a good thing. He's been sick with the croup and bronchitis as well, unfortunately.
Maybe next year will be better.
