Hello there world. Long time no see or hear. I know I know.....I've been a bad girl...but hey, at least I came back, right?
Anyway.............
The trips to West Virginia and Vegas basically went off without too many major problems. Aside from the fact that one of our customers fell and broke his arm in West Virginia and the fact that the hotel staff were pretty much idiots, everything went well. I really think the meeting in WV was actually better than the meeting in Vegas. But I will say this, the hotel staff in Vegas had it together. We never had to hunt them down because we didn't have something we requested or never had to wonder if they were going to do what was on the contract. Double Kudos to the Las Vegas Hotel.
You want to know how the customer broke his arm? Well, let me just say this.....alcohol was involved. (lots of it) and of course golfing was involved too, but this was at 3 AM in the morning when several of our customers were still sitting at the bar which overlooks the 18th hole of the golf course. They decided they would throw out these golf balls they had and then go out to the 18th hole and putt them in. That all went well, until one of them leaned over to get his golf ball and BAM he hit the ground, HARD. No arms out to break his fall, just his face and body slamming into the ground. Needless to say, the next morning he was headed to the emergency room and never attended any of the meetings.
Ohhh, and let me tell you what happened the next night. One of our customers was a rather large man, with the funniest sense of humor of anyone I have ever met. A point to note....he doesn't drink either so all of this was done, sober. I will say that the fact that he has 5 children at home, all of them girls, is probably why he was so crazy. **laughing here**
Anyway.....after dinner, everyone headed of course to the bar. When we got there, there was a lot of people already there. There was a group of army men and women there as well. For some reason, one of our salesmen decided to pimp out his customer. He jumps up on the bar and gets everyone's attention and begins raising money saying that if they get $100 then R (we will call him R)would go outside and do a belly flop with his shirt off in the 18th hole sand trap. It took less than 5 minutes for them to raise the $100. Then R proceeded to head outside, take off his shirt and do the biggest belly flop in the sand that you have ever seen. Now, let me just reiterate, the bar was full of people, the deck was full of people and everyone was watching this going on. As he was doing the belly flop, people were yelling for him to do sand angels, so he then proceeded to stand back up and then fall backwards into the sand and do sand angels. There were even women yelling for him to take off his pants. Then I heard one woman as she walked by say "I'll give him $100 to keep his pants on." I was laughing so hard. It was all in good fun, just a good thing that he didn't hurt himself.
Everyone had a good time, for the most part and that's really all that matters. They came, they trained, they had a good time.
I really enjoyed Vegas. It was way bigger and more overwhelming than I ever could have imagined. But let me tell you this, there is NO way I could live that life style. I didn't get into bed before 2 AM every night and that would be 5 AM my regular time (with the 3 hour time difference). I did a little bit of gambling and came home with $30 more than I left with so I would say that was quite successful.
Here are some pictures I took of Vegas. We stayed at the Monte Carlo. I actually did get to go up in the top of the tower at the Paris hotel and was able to catch the water show at the Belliagio. Talk about awesome, i'll post pictures of the water show on my next entry.
This picture was taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower in the Paris Hotel.
This picture was taken from the Eiffel Tower as well.
Check out that Lion!
The Monte Carlo where we stayed.
Of course I had to visit the M & M Store.
