Written to my oldest son for his 15th birthday yesterday,
Dear F,
Happy Birthday!
It only seems like yesterday that we were at the hospital awaiting the arrival of our 1st son's birth. It's hard to believe that it's been 15 years since that day. 15 years since I first held you in my arms. 15 years since you wrapped your little tiny self around my heart.
No words can express how much I love you and how much you mean to me. You are my precious son and I'll love you forever and always.
It's amazes me everyday to see you growing into such a fine young man. You continue to surprise me in the things you do and the way you handle life situations. And it scares me too, because it won't be that many years before you will be venturing out on a life of your own, starting college, moving on.
I just want you to know how very proud I am of you. I love seeing you with your brother, seeing the role model you have become for him (even though you both fight like cats and dogs). He looks up to you and believes you walk on water. I love seeing you play baseball, one of your passions in life. You just keep getting better and better. I love the fact that you care about your school work and that you are trying hard to do the best that you can do. I love seeing you and your dad working together, and seeing how much you have learned from him. I mean how many 15 year olds can install commodes by themselves or put in new sink faucets. See, you are amazing.
I want you to know that I will always be here for you, no matter what happens. There will be many changes coming in the future but I know with great confidence that you will make the right decisions no matter what path you decide to take.
I love you, never forget that.
