Happy Monday! (NOT)
I guess it's about time for a family update and an update on all the other things that have been going on that I have been avoiding writing about.
Well here goes.....
1. As you may recall, husband had to go for tests a while back to determine if he had MS. Well while there getting the results, I found out they weren't just checking for MS, they were checking for tumors, diseases, and anything else imaginable. Fortunately, the tests results were negative for everything. Now, that has both a good side and a bad side. The good side is that they don't think he has MS (or anything else), the bad side is...they still dont' know what the heck is wrong with him. They changed his medications dosages, gave him something else to take and said if this doesn't help in six months, we will retest again for MS. Okies, so that is supposed to make me feel good, right?
2. My youngest son is still struggling with getting on the right dosage of medication for his Epilepsy. He seems to be doing fine for a while and then I notice that he's blanking out, staring into space and a couple times he has had seizures at night (waking up crying and confused). We just upped his medication again the last couple weeks and the doctor hopes she can up him again when we see her again in June. He didn't weigh enough this last visit for us to go up to the strength she wants him to be at. He is also having speech issues at school. He's always talked a little funny or been a little hard to understand with certain words but the older he has gotten, the better it has seemed to be getting. At the end of the school year last year, his Kindergarten teacher recommended him for speech in 1st grade. Well, here 1/2 of the 1st grade year is over and they are just now getting ready to start working with him for the 1st time this week. School system crap sucks. Fortunately, it's only an issue with articulation and she says that she should be able to help him along well. He seems able to correct the speech problems (sounds like ch, sh, f and a few others)when ask to do it. So we will wait and see on that. Other than that, he's doing good in school, reading on grade level, still exceling in math and generally is a happy 6 year old. We still have issues with him getting sick quite often but he hasn't missed nearly as much school this year. I'm very thankful about that.
3. Oldest son is doing good. He's a typical 14 year old. He is doing pretty good in school too, mostly A's and B's and couple C's here and there. I still can't seem to get him to understand that if he would actually do ALL of his homework, he could be making straight A's. But he's a teenager, he's not gonna listen to what his mom says.
He's been getting into more sports too. Baseball is his sport of choice, but he's also done frisbee golf (and regular golf last summer) and he's currently playing basketball with one of the local church teams (his buddy's church). He loves it and I'm glad. And of course, it won't be long and we will be signing up for baseball again.
He ask a girl out to the movies before Christmas and she turned him down, but that just makes me realize how fast he really is growing up. Here he is wanting to go to the movies with girls!!! What am I gonna do when he's driving??
4. Well, things with the house are finally coming to a head. We will be closing on the house we live in in March and have to move out by June. This is really going to be a stressful situation for everyone involved. Not only was the house we live in built by my husband's family, but my mother in law has lived in the house for many years, and my sons have never lived anywhere else but here. And heck, i've been living here for most of my married life so it will be a big change for me as well. We went house-hunting over the weekend and I ended up driving over 150 miles just to look at the outside of houses. Only one of the houses that we looked at really struck anyone's fancy (actually a couple struck mine, but not like I have the deciding vote), and I guess they are going to try to look at it tomorrow. (I can't go because I can't get off of work) Anyway....more adventures will be coming about the move and finding a new house to live in so stay tuned.
5. Things with my job have been very stressful for the last few months. I knew back in October that something was going on because heck I've been here long enough to know these things. In late November, my boss finally told me what was happening and swore me to confidentiality (which I do all the time anyway). Basically this is what is happening. Our company is being sold again and although this has happened before (several times in the last 16 years that I have been here), this is different. Unfortunately I can't tell you why it's different, all I can say is that in the near future or maybe even in the not so near future (1-2 years) I may have to back out in the job market. And I don't even like thinking about that. I haven't looked for a new job in years.

Wow, I know so much else has gone on that I haven't told about...life is so crazy sometimes, isn't it?
