It's a new moment.
It's a new day.
It's a new year.
It's a new way.
Life has been crazy. 2009 was filled with many ups and many downs. It was filled with surgeries and sickenesses. It was filled with big events and good times.
Husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in 2009 (April). And honestly the rest of 2009 has probably been one of the best years we have had as a married couple in a very long time. I don't know what changed, or how, but I'm thankful that it did.
Husband had 2 surgeries during the year. He had his neck operated on in June and then his arm the middle of December. My mother in law had a hip replacement in May. So, care giving has been a big part of my last year.
Oldest son turned 18 in November. 18! It's hard to believe that I'm old enough to have a son that is 18 years old. He graduates in 2010. Graduates....I'm not ready for him to grow up and leave. He doesn't know what he wants to do yet but I know college is on the list. He's still into baseball and ROTC big time. He went to the Citadel during the summer last year for Leadership Training and he loved it. Although the military is the lifestyle that suits him, I don't believe he will follow that path because of the way things are in the world today.
Youngest son turned 10 in June. 10!He's a smart little bugger who is still struggling with school (mostly in reading)but manages to keep his grades up. He's in the 5th grade and I'm praying that he can pass the EOGs this year. It's not that he doesn't know it, it's just that he tests terribly and he can't slow down enough and process everything that he reads. It's too much to explain but he's on new meds for ADD and it's helping. We are still struggling with his Epilepsy and other health issues. He started taking allergy shots on a weekly basis and that has helped with him being sick all the time. YAY! He's still into baseball and has become quite a good pitcher as well as 3rd baseman. He wants to be just like his big brother.
Husband's brother finally admitted he was an alcholic and went to rehab for 60 days.
My sister had weight loss surgery - gastric bypass - and so far has lost 75 pounds (wish I could do that).
We made some wonderful new friends in 2009 who have enriched our lives greatly.
I've become a facebook user and caught up with many family members and old friends I haven't heard from in ages.
Work has been crazy. Everyone had to take a paycut. I had to take 13 days off unpaid in the last 5 months of the year. No raises, no bonuses, no more 401K match. But the good news is, we get our pay back as of January 2010.
Despite all the downers and bad things, I'm happy. That's something I haven't been able to say in a long time.
Happy New Year to everyone!
